Entwicklungsergebnisse des Projekts kuLtig auf ICIS 2015 präsentiert

Das Fachgebiet Wirtschaftsinformatik präsentierte aktuelle Forschungsarbeiten auf der diesjährigen International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS, JOURQUAL 3: A), welche vom 13.-16. Dezember 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas, USA stattfand.

Ernst, S.-J.; Janson, A.; Söllner, M. & Leimeister, J. M. (2015): When in Rome, do as the Romans do – Overcoming Culture Conflicts in Mobile Learning. In: International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
Abstract: Mobile learning allows for the embedding of learning into daily routines by means of authentic learning scenarios. In this context, IS research emphasizes the importance of considering individual differences such as cultural differences when using IT in learning scenarios. First, culture is a critical variable that strongly influences IT acceptance and use. Second, teaching concepts differ heavily across cultures. With this research-in-progress paper, we propose a theory-driven design approach to overcome culture conflicts for mobile learning applications. We derive requirements from IT-culture conflict theory and practice, which are addressed by design elements and implemented in a mobile learning application that is now being adapted for China. As a practical contribution of our research, we provide systematic guidance to overcome culture conflicts; as a theoretical contribution, we enrich culture theory by considering and resolving conflicts for mobile learning applications.

Janson, A.; Söllner, M. & Leimeister, J. M. (2015): Towards a Holistic Understanding of Technology-mediated Learning Appropriation. In: International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
Abstract: Information technology in the learning process is one major success factor for innovative learning scenarios. A necessary pre-condition is the faithful appropriation of technology-mediated learning (TML) to ensure learning outcomes. However, research still lacks insights concerning determinants and consequences of a faithful TML appropriation. Therefore, this research-in-progress paper presents a mixed-methods research approach to gain a holistic understanding of TML appropriation. First, based on the insights of  adaptive structuration theory, a theoretical model is developed considering objective and subjective measures for TML appropriation as well as antecedents and consequences of TML appropriation. Second, the mixed-methods approach is presented in order to evaluate the theoretical model. Our expected contribution to theory includes an extension of both TML and adaptive structuration theory with an in-depth view of TML appropriation. Expected practical contributions include the derivation of design implications for TML services that are faithfully appropriated to ensure learning success of TML participants.

Zudem stellte Andreas Janson auf Einladung der Association for Information Systems (AIS) nach einem internationalen Auswahlprozess auf dem ICIS Doctoral Consortium sein Dissertationsvorhaben im Rahmen des Projekts kuLtig vor.
